Daihatsu Zebra

If you look at this brochure you might think that this vehicle is officially offered by Daihatsu, but it is NOT so.....


Daihatsu himself calls the newer HiJet models in some countries also "Zebra" but these have nothing to do with the one shown here.


"Automeccanica" rebuilt this recreational vehicle between 1981 and 1983 on the basis of the Daihatsu Charade G10. In Greece at that time there were particularly strong taxes which had made imported vehicles particularly expensive. Automeccanica "took over the G10 and modified it to sell it as YOUR vehicle and save taxes for the end customers. The company was founded in 1975 and from the very beginning, it was able to convert more or less finished vehicles. First the Fiat fissore models, then the zebra.

In 1988 the company was bought up by its "parent company" Autokinitobiomihania Ellados and in 1995 the vehicle construction division was closed...
